‘Souness is WRONG over Rooney… he can still play a role for Manchester United’

first_imgGraeme Souness is wrong to suggest Wayne Rooney is finished in the Premier League, former Manchester United star Mark Bosnich has told talkSPORT.Former Liverpool hero Souness, now a respected TV pundit, has claimed United’s record goalscorer is no longer good enough to play regularly for a top club in England and should move abroad this summer.Read the comments from Souness in full HEREBut Bosnich believes the 31-year-old still has much to offer at the highest level, and has backed him to stay at Old Trafford beyond this season.“It is rather unfair,” he said, when asked what he made of Souness’ comments. “He is making an early call but being an ex-manager and top, top player, he should always stick with the golden rule of never writing off a great player.“He has still got a role to play at Manchester United. It might not be the same role he has had over the years, but there is definitely still a role there for him.“He’s been a victim of his own standards. He has set such high standards in the past and even if he slips just a little behind that, people start having a go at him.“He may want to go to China or somewhere like that but if he wants to stay in the country and stay at Manchester United, I’m sure there is a role there for him.“He’s not playing to a standard where you can turn around and definitely say he’s finished. I think it’s wrong for Graeme to say that he’s finished. I don’t think he is.”last_img read more
