Read the whole story: Yahoo! Chocolate topping thief gets 3 months jail

first_img Share (Photo credit: shop.countdown.co.nz)Kalunda Faustine of Wallhouse, a repeat offender, was sentenced to three months in jail on Monday 28 September 2015, after pleading guilty to theft once again. According to the information revealed in court, Faustine entered the Save-a-Lot Supermarket at about 9:25am on 26 September 2015 and proceeded to the chocolate topping section. Faustine placed one bottle of chocolate topping in his pants pocket and attempted to exit the building. A security officer, who saw the incident, called out to him Faustine, after which he immediately stopped and handed the item to the officer.Faustine, who appeared before Magistrate Bernard Pacquette, said he stole the chocolate topping because he was hungry and hadn’t eaten in three days.“I was hungry so I take it. My mother put me out of the house. Last Tuesday was my 37th birthday and my parents told me that I needed to gain employment to support myself. With the exception of 10 years my parents have been supporting me. The only reason I went to take the chocolate is because I hadn’t eaten in 3-4 day,” Faustine said.“I could have run because I saw the security following me but I stayed and let him hold me. I am very sorry for stealing but I doe want to go back Stockfarm,” he added. When questioned by Magistrate Pacquette about his current living arrangement, Faustine told the court that he sleeps in an abandoned car located in Newtown.“Would it be adverse to you if I changed your address and send you to Stockfarm… you will get three square meals,” Magistrate Paquette asked. To which he replied, “I really don’t want to go back to Stockfarm; I just leave there about three months ago. My parents said I can come back home and sleep if the Magistrate let me go”.Faustine, who begged the court not to send him to jail, was advised that in the future, when hungry he should go to the Social Center or Grotto Home for the Homeless for a meal instead of stealing.“I wasn’t aware of Social Center but I did go to Grotto Home and I was told that I could not have gotten something to eat because I am not a resident,” Faustine said. Despite his plea for mercy and promises to change Faustine was sentenced to three months imprisonment.“Every time you come before me you look like a zombie or over drugged. Take this opportunity to reflect … when you come from prison you usually look good,” Magistrate Pacquette said. 666 Views   no discussions LocalNews Chocolate topping thief gets 3 months jail by: Dominica Vibes News – September 28, 2015 Sharecenter_img Share Sharing is caring!
